![]() Screenshots and impressions may not match the current version. (The following spotlight is based on the Early Access version of Killing Floor 2. The developers have gone to early access this time ( which you can read more about in my interview,) and while it’s not done yet, there is plenty of blood and gore to go around. The developers are going for the bigger is better approach featuring a new graphics engine and updating the gameplay. They are correct.Killing Floor 2 is the sequel to the incredibly popular horde-based shooter from Tripwire Interactive. But did you think I didn't see the other answers that already told you it isn't? I did. Being grabbed has a turn animation (which you can disable if you want) and you can get out of it in any number of ways, from simply jumping and twirling out, to bashing, to shooting. QTEs are scriped events that can only end with a success or fail. I don't even understand how you can think it's a QTE. Are you clinging to the "greatness" of Fallout 3 and NV? Then I'd argue they were also terrible "sequels" because they were nothing like Fallout 1 and 2.īeing grabbed by a clot is not a QTE. Games can reinvent themselves and turnout for the better. That's because I was coming from the REAL original Fallout games (Fallout 1 and 2). When Bethesda first got the rights to Fallout 3 I thought I wouldn't like it. I still found Fallout 4 the best game in the entire franchise. Any 2-year old that can play Fallout 4 can play that, too.Īlso the writing in Fallout 4 was much better than the writing in Fallout 3 or New Vegas, to be honest. I guess if you go in without playing any of the other fallout games and want an open world shooter you will enjoy it fine.Īnd yeah there are quick time events, go get grabbed by a zed and see for yourself.Īre they? The RPG elements in Fallout 3 aren' tany smarter. But all the rpg elements are dumbed down so a 2 year old can play, the writing is flat out bad, dialog options only 4 options basically "yes, yes, yes? and no (which is really yes in disguise)" the karma system is gone, the skill tree is garbage and preston carvey is the most annoying bad cringey uninteresting stupid video game character to ever exist in a video game. No point in comparing to the "original" which is Fallout 1. Second, Fallout 4 is better than Fallout 3, in pretty much every way in my opinion. Originally posted by Mochan:First off, there are no QTE events in KF2. The faster paced combat just doesen't work well with the games clunky and slow movement, just feels more like cod zombies constantly kiting enemies around the map in circles which is tedious and boring.Īnd perks are pretty unbalanced too, a team of 6 zerkers with hemocoblers or however that weapon is spelled will pretty much beat any hoe game effortlessly. I would say it used to be good but ever since the weapon upgrades and perk prestige updates the games been going downhill and continues to do so. Hm, yeah, the game isn't bad itself it's just meh. KF2 definitely isn't the sequel it could have been(and could still be if the devs get their act together), but I'd still argue it's far from a bad sequel. ![]() Originally posted by screeno42:KF2 is definitely more casual than kf1 and lacks the writing and atmosphere, but I feel it's still a decent sequel. And making the event challenges and rewards one time things instead of cycling is kinda annoying(especially with how the rewards have become less impressive over time.) The $10 characters felt fine since they were hiring big names for those, but asking the same amount for singular weapons is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ while also having 2 flavors of lootboxes. I agree about the monetization and events though. I also will always argue that the EDARs could work if they made it just the blaster variant, gave them better visual and audio design, and only let them spawn either in their own groups or with husks. I also disagree with it now being a "bland scifi robot and monster shoot-em-up." There's only 3 robot enemies and they're all variants of 1 type. ![]() ![]() The spawn system is an example of what happens when such an adjustment doesn't happen when it needs to: the zeds are faster and thus reach players quicker now, but can still spawn as close as they did in KF1, leading to the constant "zed teleporting" complaints. That and the reduced damage are fair adjustments considering the zeds are now faster, harder to hit, and some have combo attacks that still deplete your health quickly. The enemies are actually less bullet spongy than KF1 that was one of the things the devs talked about back when the game was still in development. KF2 is definitely more casual than kf1 and lacks the writing and atmosphere, but I feel it's still a decent sequel. ![]()
